Super Nationals

It’s the BMX version of a three-ring circus, all under the Big Top.

Super Nationals

Ringmaster

Since taking over DeSoto BMX, Chris and Casey Allen have been doing a stellar job, initiating a ton of improvements with even more to come next year. The somewhat weekly podcast “Chris’ Corner” and the new theme of “Racing under the Big Top” prompted us to think of Chris as our sport’s very own P.T. Barnum. Thus, “Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls ...welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth!”

Acrobatics

The DeSoto track has never looked better, with newly slurried turns, revised jumps and a reinforced backside to turn two. We witnessed plenty of aerial acrobatics down the second straightaway - as racers were tossin’ down some style on the doubles and skyin’ the triples with the greatest of ease.

Clowns & Buffoonery

When you get a gate full of funny characters - from “Scooby-Doo” to “Cupcake” and “Thunderfoot,” we can only assume that the 15x class loves to clown around. Don’t take this wrong; we’re not calling them a bunch of buffoons - these dudes are seriously fast and you probably wouldn’t want to run into them in a dark alley. In the end, Pickle Juicer Cameron Wing came out on top - both days, followed closely by Bionic-wristed Justin Houldson.

When you roll into the local Quiktrip and one of Tucson’s finest looks at your shirt and asks if you know Corben Sharrah, you can only be in one city in America. Often coined as the loudest city in BMX, it doesn’t matter if there is a single fan or a gaggle of Tucsonans, they know how to bring the energy.

With all of the uncertainty in event planning this year, it was not a huge surprise that the DK Bicycles North East Gold Cup Finals shifted locations somewhat last minute. We were very lucky to have it and at a great location, Akron BMX in Akron, Ohio. The Big Red Truck was last here for the 2018 North East Gold Cup Finals, and the track is located in a pretty incredible location.
