Instagram © feed, there was this young lady who followed us daily. If I didn’t see a “♥” from her, I wondered, “Hum, didn’t hear from [Kelsea] today.” Not to worry, as she would show up and “♥” or comment on the daily “HOLLA’!s,” faithfully. I have never met Kelsea, but I also follow her on Instagram © regularly. This young lady is just a great girl and a great athlete. I told my staff, I wanted her to be featured in the magazine. I reached out to her wonderful mother several months ago. It was I who had to delay the feature several times as they were graciously patient. That wait was worth it when I decided that I wanted this issue to be about greatness. I decided that she had to be on this cover because she is really “greatness!” – Dee Artis | Editor

Kelly Richardson is raising true #BlackGirlMagic with her daughter Kelsea Allen. This 11 year old answered our last interview question about her plans in 5 years with a solid outline. “I plan to be a positive icon that not only cheers or tumbles, but a smart beautiful girl that can achieve anything she puts her mind to. I want to improve fitness in our communities and teach nutrition and [that] it’s not a bad thing.” Greatness at its finest!

But before we tell you the rest of her answer, you need to know that her greatness for the sport was from family influence. At the age of 3, while watching her cousins tumble, she found what they were doing, fun! One of her cousins, who cheered all star, introduced her to the sport. From a baby girl mimicking her cousins, Kelsea is now a powerful USASF L5 tumbler and solid flyer.
