This is a night for everybody connected with Everton to be united and put everything into achieving our objective of reaching the quarter-finals of this competition.
We were all hurting after the match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday. It is difficult to understand some of the things that happened in the game and we felt our performance deserved three points, so to come home with nothing was really tough. That last 10 minutes after the penalty we should have managed the game with more maturity and never conceded a goal from a counter attack in stoppage time.
We reacted well when Brighton scored from a direct free-kick, equalising quickly and taking control of the match, playing with authority and confidence.
It wasn’t a surprise when Dominic gave us the lead but then Brighton got their penalty from a VAR decision and that incident had a decisive influence on the game.
