After cutting down the series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has thrown a spanner in the works even as Cricket South Africa tries to wade through their muddle once more. With India now canceling informally made plans for a possible tour in August, South Africa find themselves in a world of trouble.
The pandemic has caused more than one cricket board to reevaluate. While most boards cannot wait for their respective teams to get back on the field, the reality closer to the truth is that not all teams can get back to the ground even if the possibilities exist for such a scenario. That is because the enforced lockdown and time away from the sport have given some boards the power to pick and choose their opponents while leaving some vulnerable others on the precipice of being the ones at the receiving end of such upending decisions.
