I think the best piece of advice I can give regarding solid bags as winter approaches, is definitely, 100%, include them within your approach. At this time of year, when the feeding desire of carp is generally lower, small, high-attract pockets of bait can form the perfect trap. Take boilies for example; having used and fed a particular food source boilie (Cell for example) through the year, I&rsquo;m a little hesitant to drop the bait that I&rsquo;ve encouraged the fish to be so confident in eating. Especially when the fish probably aren&rsquo;t feeding that hard. No, I want as many things as possible in my favour, and having a flavour label the carp will readily take is one of them. Crushing, or blending, some boilies down to a fine crumb works really well as a solid-bag fill along with some broken boilies to add a few larger items. We all have our favourite or preferred items to fill a solid bag with &ndash; pellets and a little ground bait probably being at the top of most anglers&rsquo; list. But I think where many miss a trick is where liquids are concerned &ndash; as in they use the wrong ones or don&rsquo;t even use one at all! The pellets in a bag with hookbait close by, may create a fantastic presentation on the bottom, but it&rsquo;s the attraction of the bag that will draw the carp to it, and this is where liquids come into play. Liquid oils can be great during the warmer, summer months, but many can congeal in cold water temperatures and actually have a negative effect on the bag. Packed with water-soluble aminos, stimulants, natural sugars and flavour palletants, the PVA friendly Particle &amp; Pellet Syrups and Stick Mix Liquids are unaffected in this way. Instead, they will disperse and diffuse throughout the water column &ndash; sending attractive signals picked up by the sensory organs of the carp to draw and pull them in. This is a massive benefit in winter when perhaps you&rsquo;re not looking to feed the carp, but are trying to create the attraction of a higher quantity of bait and food. These liquids are PVA friendly too, so there&rsquo;s no concerns over melting your bags as you tie them &ndash; in fact you can actually coat the outside of the bag as well as the pellets or feed within it. Liquid attraction such as this really is a no-brainer, even more so in harder parts of the year when bites can be difficult to come by.
