Yorkshireman Chris Riley is striving to train more efficiently

After putting on weight in his early 20s, barber Chris Riley was urged by two cyclist mates to buy a road bike. “I hummed and harred, as I wasn’t sure,” says the Yorkshireman, now 27, “but then I watched the Tour de France come through Yorkshire and that made up my mind. I went down to Halfords, bought a fairly cheap bike and loved it from the start — straight away I was caning it, doing more and more. Ironically, the two lads who suggested it don’t ride anymore!”
