ASICS – Evoride
The latest addition to what is becoming a growing line of products in ASICS’ ‘RIDE’ category, this shoe takes the learnings of the METARIDE and GLIDERIDE into an everyday, affordable shoe for the masses.
It feels light and provides an incredibly smooth ride – it really does feel likes its rolling you down the road. This is a slightly lower profile shoe (with a 22mm stack height and 5mm heel drop) but it is aimed at more up-tempo kind of training and is very efficient.
The FLYTEFOAM Propel midsole gives a nice combination of shock absorption and, thanks to the defined rocker, a great toe-off to create a shoe that puts a smile on your face.
As you would expect from ASICS, the upper is of the highest quality and the Jacquard mesh construction feels soft and plush while providing a close and secure fit.
BROOKS – Ghost 12
A look at the best neutral shoes around wouldn’t be complete without considering one of the best around.
The Ghost is a firm favourite with many runners – it’s the combination of lightweight, plush cushioning and a great fit that give it such a broad appeal.
The cushioning comes from the brand’s DNA LOFT and BioMoGo DNA materials, providing a well-rounded mix that simply soaks up impact without you even noticing.
ASICS – Gel Nimbus 22.
In a world of ever evolving shoes, the Nimbus remains, albeit reimagined with the latest technologies. This is still the same stable, neutral high mileage model it always has been, but is now the culmination of over 20 years of development.
Increased GEL in the rearfoot combines with FLYTEFOAM midsole cushioning to provide a lighter and yet more durable ride. The GEL is now a lower density to give a softer feel and, with Propel cushioning, there’s a more responsive toe-off.
