WITH such a diverse sport that features so many differing disciplines, events, equipment and apparatus, one of the key parts of my role in recent times has been to ensure the changes in rules and requirements are fully delivered to the sport, competition providers and clubs.

Even as an ex-athlete it has come as an eye-opener to me. All I needed was my lane, some starting blocks and my spikes!

That said, there is a real plus point to working in a sport where we continue to look, tweak and work with the rules to ensure athletes can transition between age groups, especially with some of the more technical events, making sure we retain gifted young athletes through to senior competition.
