RANGE OF OPTIONS

This feature covers a massive project. Back in the summer of 2018, a new range was born. The first hole was dug and the first support post went in. Now, nearly two years on, I went to see the site for the first time with a view to becoming a club member. This exciting new range and club was born as a spin-off from the Range & Country gunshop that Peter Rose and his son, Lawrence, run in Sleaford. Peter has been passionate about shooting airguns since the age of 12, so it made perfect sense for him to build a proper range in his home county. Lawrence got straight into the business from school, and is already highly knowledgable on all things airgun, and his enthusiasm for the range is clear to see. When I visited the range it was closed, so there was nobody shooting, but Lawrence was there to explain to me what’s in the pipeline and all about the club.

The airgun range is set over a large area of landscape, which Peter rents, just behind a large farmhouse. There’s plenty of room for parking right next to the range, and there’s also an on-site shop, which sells a few basic essentials such as pellets, targets and suchlike. Lawrence explained that his dad was looking to move the entire main shop from Sleaford to this site, which would make perfect sense and I really hope this idea comes off because it would certainly increase their sales of all things airguns – imagine having the ‘try before you buy’ facility on such an impressive range!
