LET'S HEAR IT FOR OUR OWN HEROES

Meet a couple of wonderful people who have diverted their resources and talent to help the campaign against the coronavirus
LET'S HEAR IT FOR OUR OWN HEROES

Within our sport and our industry, there are many who are doing their bit to help the fight against the pandemic currently locking down our nation. Two of our own who are doing their absolute best to help were brought to our attention, and we thought it right and proper that they were given an Airgun World round of applause. When we asked them to supply details of what they were doing, plus some photos to illustrate this feature, neither of our heroes included a photo of themselves. We think that says a great deal about these wonderful people. Let’s meet them.

ANDREW HUGGETT

Andrew, of Huggett Precision Products, is helping in Britain’s battle against COVID-19 by switching from making Astile and Belita moderators, to producing parts for medical ventilators. The normal HPP production line has been shut down and rejigged to make 10,500 parts from nearly three-quarters of a mile of material.

Andrew was approached by a representative from Formula 1’s MacLaren team who are now part of a group commissioned by the British Government, to make extra hospital ventilators for the UK’s National Health Service.

New equipment, including a hi-tech, metal cutting saw had to be sourced in a hurry, then purchased at the cost of several thousand pounds, and it had to be for immediate delivery because any delay would be unacceptable, but finally, a company in Peterborough agreed a timely delivery of just what Andrew needed.
