A Better Range Of Options

Our eldest, every inch the 13-year-old lad, has embraced the recent lockdown restrictions with gusto. “So, you’re telling me I don’t have to go to school, visit family or go out for more than an hour a day? Sweeeeeeet!”

Yep! Depressing as it might sound, it’s fair to say that there were Japanese prisoners of war more likely to take a stroll around the garden or head off to the park than our offspring these days. Couple this fact with a world-wide lockdown and you’ve got a host of anxious parents, desperate to prise their children’s pale, white knuckles away from killing zombies and taking part in virtual allied invasions. But even our most avid bedroom lurker could be lured into the open by a trip down to Bisley for a family day of target practice.

FAMILY FUN BC

A few months BC (‘Before Corona’) we headed down to join my much-adored uncle, Terry Doe – some of you may know him – for a fun filled family afternoon of shooting targets, getting to grips with the safety aspects and becoming slightly too competitive than was entirely necessary between ourselves.

To our family, guns, when treated with respect have been a source of relaxation, achievement and good old-fashioned fun for generations. So, as lockdown boredom began to bite, I asked my dear uncle if he happened to have an old airgun knocking about.
