I will readily admit that I’m not the hardiest of shooters, and inclement weather has me running for cover. That said, our sport is at its best outdoors, and that means inevitably getting caught in the wet stuff from time to time. Having the right kit is the name of the game, and for me, that means not only waterproof clothing when required, but also a properly protective case for the treasured hardware. It still amazes me how few gun cases are available, that are designed to be fully waterproof. Yet for hunters in the middle of a field, or even FT competition shooters caught halfway round a target course, when the heavens properly open, a waterproof safe haven for the gun, has to make sense.
Ogden’s Shooting Supplies are an English manufacturer that make high-grade specialist accessories such as; game bags, cartridge bags, fishing products, and leather goods, and their expanding range of gun cases are fast gaining a reputation for dependable quality. In the spotlight here is what they call their ‘Quickslip’, and whilst the name is misleadingly understated, the product is anything but low-key!
Indeed there’s plenty of research behind its development, as Phil Ogden, the man behind the business, is at pains to point out. ‘We developed this case over a 12-month period with help and input from stalkers at the BASC. Several samples were made and the design tweaked, as constructive criticism and suggestions were taken onboard’.
