If you have ever thought about taking on an adventure race then this is the challenge for you. 11 years ago I was lucky enough to have two friends who were as adventurous or as crazy as me and we competed in the 2009 Autumn Challenge. This was held around the stunning Mountain Valley Lodge in the Mohaka region. With a combined age of over 120 years, we were veterans, and it took us 8 hours and 39 minutes to complete the raft, bike, and trek. We placed 5th in the veteran's division and 18th overall and we were elated; our weeks of training and weekends of team building had paid off. Now eleven years later we are super vets, meeting the over 150 years combined age with a few years to spare.

It is a known fact that the mere prospect of change does not sit well with many people and causes stress and anxiety, but 2020 saw us all change in many ways. We were somewhere in the dense bush of New Zealand’s wild West Coast; battling the unrelenting undergrowth, sweaty, bleeding and tired… but stoked. Despite knowing where we were geographically, we felt lost in the wilderness. The countless dead ends encountered as we searched for a route amongst the bluffed-out ridges, landslips or cliffs.
