Don’t despair, it’s just a matter of readjusting your thinking. You cannot get more of God, but He can get more of you. You must allow Him more access to your heart. God often speaks to us in very simple ways. Let me tell you how a pair of pink, flea-market high heels led to a wonderful women’s conference, where people were connected to impact lives for eternity all because of one shoe, one thought, and obeying God’s voice.
It’s not complicated. You can follow God’s voice and find your gifting. It’s time you had faith for your own gift to emerge. Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Knowing that God started a work in you is a guarantee that there is a finished work. Be encouraged! You can complete your work and you will encourage and teach others to walk in their gifting. Our gift is like a multifaceted diamond that shines the brightest in His light.
It was a perfect day, October 21. After church, I thought I should go to the local flea market. As I walked the aisles, I thought, “Why am I here?” It was not a real pleasant place, but it was flea market, after all, so that was to be expected. Going down the last aisle, I figured I had not heard from God, I guessed I just missed it. Suddenly, right in front of my eyes were the prettiest, pink six-inch high heels I had ever seen. I heard these words flash across my mind: “Women’s conference.” I said back, also in my mind, “Well, we will see.”
Now, I was not sassing my Father God, but I know the Word says to try the spirits to see if they be of God. First John 4:1 says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” Everything should agree with the Word of God. Anything contrary to the Word is not to be followed. That’s why knowing the Word is key. God always confirms His Word with two or more witnesses.
