It was a routine day for me in the office. During the lunch break, I was sitting with my colleagues enjoying the meal, when suddenly everything kept on the table and around us started shaking. My observation got even stronger when I could see my friend looking scared too. Within a few seconds, everybody in the cafeteria got up from their seats and started to rush downstairs. Yes, it was an Earthquake. Everybody rushed to save their lives. Through Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms, we got to know that an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude on the Richter scale has hit the Hindu Kush region and the nearby regions have been affected severely.
The next day in the office when I was sitting with the same set of colleagues, we were discussing about the damage done by the earthquake. All of us were talking about the level of destruction due to the earthquake and the number of people who lost their lives. We also discussed about the recent earthquakes in Nepal, Japan, etc. and their high intensity and frequency resulting in severe casualties. Abruptly one of us asked– “Can't we just know in advance through the latest technology as to when and where is the next earthquake going to hit?” Though all of us sitting there were highly knowledgeable but none of us could answer the question.
