FACTRICK

1. RETRO READY

The game features “bulky, retro-futuristic machines of incredible designs inspired by the pre-digital era.”

2. SOUND SENSE

The Invincible will use multilayered contextual sound to make the most of PS5’s 3D audio to relay its narrative.

3. SCI-FISHOCKER

The plot will have horror overtones, and your exploration is guided by your investigations.

Turning the clock back to a heavily stylised 1950s’ vision of the future, new Polish studio Starward Industries has drawn from the same classic sci-fi well as Hideo Kojima for its first game, inspired by the Stanisaw Lem novel of the same name.

Given the novel, and author’s historical political leaning, we ask Starward Industries’ CEO, Marek Markuszewski, if The Invincible will play up the Communist themes of Lem’s work.

“The team in The Invincible is united by their belonging to an elite team of astronauts and having an important mission rather than a political cause,” he tells us. Your team members are diverse and will often clash, but largely they follow orders.

The Invincible

The planet Regis III is one of the most gorgeous videogame locations of the year. Its lush orange deserts look hand-painted, its starry skyboxes truly justify the word awesome, and the [SPOILER REDACTED] you discover there are truly, thrillingly alien. What an unmitigated triumph of art design and direction! Shame about the game.
