Golden seeks campaign finance reform, ‘good for democracy'
Raises $2.8 million for campaign, despite misgivings
LESLIE LANDRIGAN

STONINGTON—Jared Golden, the first-term congressman from Maine’s 2nd District, spends one day a week raising campaign funds in Washington, D.C., he told Penobscot Bay Press in a recent interview.

But Golden, a Lewiston Democrat, said his party expects him to spend at least 20 hours a week phoning and meeting with donors.

“The basic rule is 20 hours a week minimum,” he said. “I’m just not for that.”
