BLUE HILL—There was little familiar beyond the caps and gowns at George Stevens Academy’s commencement June 14, streamed on YouTube and compiled from video clips and messages and speeches pre-recorded in back yards and bedrooms.
“There is, of course, nothing normal about this spring,” Head of School Tim Seeley noted in his introductory remarks.
The closest physically the larger school community came to the 84 graduates was waving from the sidewalks as they drove through town accompanied by fire trucks from nearly all the sending towns.
“The distance between us need not lessen our sense of celebration at the accomplishments of our graduates,” Seeley said.
