Justice Sarang Kotwal said the definition of ‘financing’ (drugs) should be explained by additional solicitor general Anil Singh, who appeared for the NCB, as it felt it was the “crux of the matter”, as was the object of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act to “stop illicit drug trafficking”.
Singh will also have to explain the object of Section 27A and that of Section 37, he said.
Adding that the bail applications of alleged drug peddler Abdel Basit Parihar, Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda and Rajput’s cook Dipesh Sawant need to be heard extensively, Justice Kotwal observed that the issues raised would have an impact on other NDPS cases.
