New Delhi: A survey across 11 states to assess the impact of the lockdown and how the hinterland is unlocking points towards the paucity of skilled employment available in villages, reflected in the fact that nearly 2/3rd of returned migrants have either migrated again or wish to do so. It also suggests that though risk of Covid spreading in rural areas now is higher, government’s welfare measures and especially the PDS have somewhat helped in mitgating distress.
