New Delhi: India has clearly told China that its soldiers will take all measures to protect themselves and their positions in eastern Ladakh, including opening fire in extreme circumstances in the region, clearly indicating that India will not shy away from a conflict if pressed.
Though both sides have agreed not to further escalate tensions by sending additional soldiers to the frontlines, there is no tangible breakthrough yet in the continuing military confrontation despite several rounds of diplomatic and military talks. Both armies remain prepared to maintain their positions along the frontier during the harsh winter.
