Previously, the BTR was considering tapping the Chinese and Japanese debt markets within the year to raise funds for the government.
But asked if the government is still planning to pursue a Panda or Samurai bond issuance this year, National Treasurer Rosalia De Leon said: “No more.”
Earlier this month, the BSP approved an advance credit amounting to P540 billion to boost state coffers amid the coronavirus pandemic. This amount is on top of the P300 billion short term loan provided by the central bank through a repurchase agreement earlier this year.
