Three days out from Mumbai Indians’ clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore, it seemed unlikely that either Jasprit Bumrah or Lasith Malinga would play any part in the game.
But at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, the two bowlers played a decisive role in fashioning a narrow six-run win for Mumbai.
Bumrah finished with remarkable figures of three for 20 from his four overs and was rightly named the ‘Manof-the-match’. Malinga took a beating in the 16th over and was even struck for six offthe first ball of the final over, but the Sri Lankan recovered, bowling two superb yorkers to A.B. de Villiers under immense pressure.
