219 Infants Died At Two Gujarat Civil Hospitals In December

The number of infant deaths at the civil hospitals in Gujarat’s Rajkot and Ahmedabad is markedly higher than over 100 deaths reported from the government hospital at Kota in Rajasthan.

The two hospitals in Gujarat have reported 219 deaths in December. In Rajkot alone, 134 infants died and 85 deaths were reported from Ahmedabad. In the last three months, 253 infants have died in the Ahmedabad hospital, Gujarat’s largest.

“In December, 455 children were admitted and 85 lost their lives during treatment,” Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital G.S. Rathod said. At the Rajkot civil hospital, 1,235 infants died during 2019.
