As plans to boost Scotland’s economy go, it’s out of this world.

Entrepreneur Mitch HunterScullion aims to win the space race to mine asteroids worth trillions by building an army of robots.

The 25 -year-old CEO of Asteroid Mining Corporation has struck a deal with Japan’s Tohoku University to design a fleet of machines capable of tackling the surface of space rocks.

And he plans to set up a £1million s p a c e robotics lab in his home town Motherwell to manufacture his creations.
