THE boss of the National Trust has revealed her “huge frustration” at the outcry over research she commissioned into the colonial links of its properties.

Trust chief ‘frustrated' at outcry over slavery report

Hilary McGrady, the director general of Europe’s biggest conservation body, said the Trust was looking into whether many of its estates where built from the profits of slavery before the Black Lives Matter movement brought this into sharper focus.

The Trust has come under fire for its position, with many members threatening to cancel their subscriptions after it published a list of nearly 100 properties that it says have links to slavery and colonialism.
