In Italy, where the pandemic rages, with more than 41,000 cases resulting in 3,405 confirmed deaths, big names in fashion have come together to support the efforts in curbing the spread of the disease.
Miuccia Prada, through its parent company Prada S.p.A., announced funding for two new intensive care units (ICU) in three of Milan’s hospitals, namely Sacco, San Rafaelle, and Vittore Buzzi. Giorgio Armani donated $1.4 million to Milan and Rome hospitals, as well as to the Italian Civil Protection agency directly responding to the outbreak. Gucci’s chief executive officer Marco Bizarri donated more than $100,000 to Emilia-Romagna hospitals situated in central-northern Italy, where many infected patients reside.
