National Award Winner Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha Talk About His Role in and as the ‘dream Girl’ and the Impact of Social Media on Stars

WITH back-to-back box-office hits and applause-worthy performances in films such as Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Badhaai Ho and AndhaDhun, Ayushmann Khurrana — the self-proclaimed poster boy of stories rooted in real-life — received his due this year with a National Award for films. His this week’s release Dream Girl is yet another ‘boy-next-door’ story but the actor says it’s “different” from his other films.

“The narrative of this film has a more commercial texture to it. It is my most ‘masala’ film to date where I can easily tell people ‘leave your brains at home and just have a good laugh in the theatre’,” Khurrana told Mail Today.

In the film Khurrana plays the “dream girl” of many a lonely man; a character that took him nearly three hours to transform himself physically into a woman. But mentally and emotionally stepping into Pooja’s shoes from Lokesh’s was not tough.
