FLESH TRADE HOTSPOTS -mushroom in South Delhi

PROMINENT stretches of tony South Delhi neighborhoods are taken over by scores of sex workers every night, making life and movement very difficult for residents, and often leading to road-side brawls that make residents feel unsafe.

Residents have claimed that, after the shutters of high-end showrooms come down, the otherwise busy streets turns into a pick-up point for flesh trade. The problem is so widespread that the resident welfare associations of some areas have given a written complaint to the authorities.

From writing letters and complaints to the local police, councilors, MLAs and even some MPs, to making calls to the police control room, the residents claims that they have left no stone unturned to fight the battle, but to no avail. Police have not denied such activities flourishing right under their nose. “We take action once any complaint is made,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south).

The residents of posh localities of Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, Green Park, Hauz Khas , Safdarjung Development Area, Saket, Panchsheel Vihar are facing the problem and they claim that the prostitution rackets have only grown in the last few years.
