The Modi government has drawn a three-phase plan to fight the Coronavirus pandemic. The Centre has released Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness package to the states to fight COVID-19. The package is 100% centrally funded.
The government has sanctioned ₹15000 crore for 'India COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package'. Out of this ₹ 7774 crore for the first phase and rest for medium-term support (1-4 years) to be provided under the mission mode approach.
The Centre expects a long haul fight against COVID pandemic. As per the communication sent to the states and UTs, the project will be implemented in three phases - Phase 1 January 2020 to June 2020, Phase 2 July 2020 to March 2021 and Phase 3 April 2021 to March 2024.
