Varadkar Gave Woulfe Backing To Be Supreme Court Judge
Leo Varadkar recommended Golfgate judge Seamus Woulfe for the Supreme Court to Helen McEntee, it has been revealed.

The Tanaiste offered a clear preference when he told her Mr. Woulfe would “make a good judge”. He did not comment on any others in the running for the job.

The revelation came during a bruising session in the Dail where the Opposition piled the pressure on Minister for Justice, Ms McEntee, over the appointment.

In an intense to-and-fro, the leaders from across the House lashed the Government with allegations of “cronyism” and “arrogance”.

However, after two hours Ms McEntee emerged relatively unscathed, despite repeated allegations of foul play from the Opposition.
