More Deaths in Italy than China
THE death toll in Italy passed China yesterday, rising by 427 to 3,405 deaths.

In China the number is 3,245 after eight new deaths emerged – but for the first time since the pandemic started no new cases of coronavirus were recorded.

Italy is the country most afflicted by the dreaded bug in Europe with more than 35,000 confirmed cases and the tragic milestone was surpassed yesterday as 60 million people are confined to their homes.

These pictures show the hellish reality in Coronavirus-ravaged Italy as the army moves bodies from the epicentre of the outbreak because of mortuaries overflowing.

A spokesman said 15 trucks and 50 soldiers were deployed to shift the remains of the tragic victims.

The disturbing images from Bergamo, north-east of Milan, reveal how funeral services have become so overwhelmed by the crippling outbreak.

A prior appeal had been made by the local authorities in the city who called for help after their crematorium was swamped with bodies.
