Martin In A Rage At Wage Row ‘Untruths'

Taoiseach Micheal Martin has accused Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald of taking every opportunity to “tell untruths” in a row over the minimum wage.

The two butted heads in the Dail yesterday while discussing the Irish Congress of Trade Union’s decision to withdraw from the Low Pay Commission.

It wants to raise the minimum wage by 10c which Sinn Fein said “is a slap in the face” to workers who were deemed essential during the pandemic. The minimum wage currently stands at €10.10.

Ms McDonald said: “When the chips were down, it was not to the high rollers, to the bankers, to the corporate landlords or to the millionaire executives that we turned.
