Corpses Are Loaded On To Trucks In US

More than 800 people have died in the city with a further 33,000 infected as New York remains the epicentre of America’s rising crisis.

A bystander captured footage of the bodies being loaded up in Brooklyn as another picture taken by a nurse showed the dead inside the truck.

The 38-year-old unnamed medic took the photo at the end of his shift on Sunday to highlight the “ghastly reality” of the pandemic in the US.

The nurse said one of the people laying in the truck was a woman he had comforted as she died.

He added: “I never had the patience to sit with somebody I’d just met until they took their last breath. But I really liked this lady’s cardigan and pyjamas, so I decided to stay and get to know her a little.”

Makeshift morgues are being built throughout New York while a mass field hospital has been set up in Central Park as the city struggles to cope with its growing coronavirus patients.
