3 Probes Into Rte Staff Do

O’Callaghan issues on air apology

Three probes are now underway into the attendance by RTE stars at a staff leaving do as Miriam O’Callaghan became the latest to issue an apology live on air.

The Prime Time host was “deeply sorry” at the start of her show yesterday.

Bryan Dobson and news presenters David McCullagh and Eileen Dunne all posed for pictures at the gathering on November 12, where social distancing was ignored and masks were not worn.

Ms O’Callaghan told listeners of RTE Radio One’s Sunday With Miriam it is “completely her own fault”.

She said: “I’m also acutely aware that as someone in the public eye, it’s so important to lead by example.

“By posing in this photograph in the way I did, I seriously failed to do that and in that moment I know I let everyone down and for that I will be forever sorry.”
