UAE begins issuing entry visas, no work permits yet

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship announced that it has resumed issuing entry permits into the country, commencing Thursday (Sept.24, 2020).

The Authority added that however, work permits are still on hold at this stage.

The resumption of this service is within the framework of easing restrictions and strengthening the state’s efforts towards supporting recovery plans of the country’s tourism sector and economy.

The Authority stated that the decision also follows the precautionary measures undertaken by the travel industry to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

In March, the ICA temporarily suspended the issuance of visas, with the exception of holders of diplomatic passports.

It also revealed that its website witnessed over 3.231 million visits, including 2.595 million new visits and 636,207 repeated visits since the beginning of 2020.

The total download of the smart application reached 135,677 on phones.

It explained that these statistics are a translation of its efforts to promote the UAE government’s smart transformation strategy.
