PARIS
The UAE has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that took place in the French city of Nice, which claimed the lives of a number of people, and wounded others.
World leaders condemned the fatal stabbings on Thursday.
Condemnation came from US President Donald Trump, UN chief Antonio Guterres, as well as European, Arab and Israeli leaders.
A man armed with a knife attacked people inside a French church and killed three on Thursday, prompting the government to raise its security alert status to the maximum level hours before a nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation emphasized that the UAE expressed its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing security in contravention of religious and humanitarian values and principles.
The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of this heinous crime. It also wished a quick recovery to all the injured. The UAE also denounced the attack that took place on Thursday at the French consulate in Jeddah, which resulted in the wounding of a security guard.
