The federal government may adopt a new strategy to deal with the opposition’s ongoing protest campaign while taking serious notice of the use of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) platform for raising the slogan of “independent Balochistan.”
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz blasted the opposition parties for allegedly promoting the “enemies’ narrative” and attacking the state institutions, particularly the country’s armed forces.
He told reporters that the government would be having an important meeting in which they would review the current political situation in the country and make a decision about the future public meetings of the opposition PDM after consultation with all the stakeholders including the ministries of interior, foreign affairs, information, and national security.
The minister said delivering “anti-Pakistan speeches” should not be allowed at all. In the past, he recalled, they had declared Wali Khan as “a traitor” only for demanding to rename of the Northwest Frontier Province as “Pakhtoonistan” and here these leaders were openly talking about the country’s break-up.
