Tynemouth Longsands, North Tyneside

A Blue Flag award-winning stretch of golden sand, which is open year-round to both the public and dogs. After your stroll across the mile-long beach, take a walk into Tynemouth village for takeaway fish and chips at Longsands Fish Kitchen, which has been offering a click-and-collect service during lockdown with a socially distanced queue.

Southwold, Suffolk

This large sandy beach is great for all ages, with plenty of space to walk. Head south from the pier, past the rows of colorful beach huts, the lighthouse, and the dunes, to Mrs. T’s Fish and Chips at Southwold Harbour, on the mouth of the River Blyth, which forms a tidal creek. The hot-food takeaway service is up and running again. Simply collect your fried delights from the counter, and then find a spot on the water to enjoy them.
