The family of a toddler killed in a horror crash has said their hearts have been “ripped out”.
Xander Irvine, three, suffered fatal injuries in the collision when a car driven by a 91-year-old woman mounted the pavement and struck him and his mum on Tuesday afternoon.
His mum, Victoria, was also injured in the accident on Edinburgh’s Morningside Road.
In a statement released through police, the family said: “Xander Paul Thomas Irvine, three years old, was out for a walk in Morningside with his mother on Tuesday afternoon when a tragic accident occurred.
“Xander was a very happy, bubbly, intelligent little boy who was very dearly loved by his parents Victoria and Paul.
