A Tory councilor has been suspended after comparing a sportswoman who did not “take the knee” with a man who defied the Nazis.
Colin McGavigan said his use of the photograph was about showing someone “going against the grain”.
Heal claimed comments he made about the Holy Family not being black were “sarcastic”.
A Scottish Tory spokesman said: “In light of these posts, Cllr McGavigan has been suspended pending an investigation.”
An SNP spokesperson said: “There’s no excuse for these totally unacceptable and offensive Facebook posts.”
