Euphoric Scots descended on golf courses, riverbanks and tennis courts yesterday as they took the first joyful leap out of lockdown.
The most eagerly anticipated day of the year was also the hottest so far – sending the lockdown liberation vibe into overdrive after 66 days at home.
Parks and beaches were mobbed as temperatures soared to 28C in some places.
And sporty types rejoiced in the sheer bliss that came with the reopening of clubs.
At Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club, pals Tricia Turpie and Doreen Tait teed off in brilliant sunshine.
Retired legal secretary Tricia, 69, said: “We go to California from time to time for the good weather but it would be impossible to beat what we got today.
“The sheer joy of it has been immense and I have to say my face is sore with all the smiling I’ve done.
