Sexist Bullies Got Me Fired Up To Succeed

As both mum and early tennis coach to Andy and Jamie Murray, there is no doubting the crucial role she played in helping both her sons reach the top of the sport.

But now Judy Murray has revealed her son’s tennis careers could have been very different after she was targeted by sexist bullies as she worked to become one of the country’s leading coaches.

Judy, 61, has opened her heart about the prejudice she faced w hi le becoming the f irst woman to pass the Lawn Tennis Association’s Performance Coach Award in the 90s.

Rather than allowing the discrimination to stall her career as a coach, she used her anger to propel herself to success.

And she is deeply proud of the way both Andy and Jamie stand up for sexual equality.

Judy said: “There were 20 spaces on a new course that was going to last for a year called the Performance Coach Award and I got one.
