A senior Tory MSP has warned she will quit unless Douglas Ross reforms the party in Scotland.
In a leaked message, Michelle Ballantyne said she agreed to support Ross’s leadership bid on the understanding he leads a “Boris-backing, Brexit-positive, anti-Nat party”.
The right-winger added she wanted to see “cronyism” in the Scottish Tories rooted out.
A Tory source said: “This is just the latest from Michelle Ballantyne showing how out of touch and self-serving she is.
“Michelle speaks for a tiny faction in the party who got thumped by Jackson Carlaw just five months ago. She is a sore loser.”
Ross, the MP for Moray, looks certain to be crowned party leader this week without a contest.
A vacancy arose after Carlaw’s shock resignation.
