THE grief-stricken dad of three children who died in a house fire paid an emotional Father’s Day visit to the gutted family home yesterday.
Devastated Alex Gibson was in tears as he kneeled down to look at tributes left outside the flat for his three “little angels”.
Fiona Gibson, 12, and her brothers Alexander James, eight, and five-year-old Philip passed away after a blaze ripped through an upper cottage flat in Renfrew Road, Paisley, on Friday night.
The children’s mum, Julie Daley, 39, remained in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital yesterday.
Alex, his face soaked with tears, returned briefly to the scene of the tragedy yesterday afternoon to see what little was left of the home that had brought him so much happiness over the years.
He kneeled down at the floral tributes to read the cards and look at the soft toys, including teddy bears and unicorns, which had been left by dozens of friends and neighbours.
The touching message on one card read: “To Fiona, my bestie forever. Thank you for the great memories we made together. You showed me exactly what a best friend is.
“I will miss you very much. It’s never goodbye, just a see you soon. All my love, Hayley xoxoxo.”
At one stage, the heartbroken dad looked up at the burned-out flat and wept uncontrollably.
He was supported by family members and escorted by two police family liaison officers as he left after the painful visit.
Alex, who loved making TikTok videos for his children and who hoped to go to Florida with them when lockdown was over, was too upset to speak to reporters.
