CONNOR SYME will be hoping it’s third time lucky in the chase for a maiden European Tour win.
The Scot is in a share of second after a battling one over 72 at the windswept Andalucia Masters in Valderrama.
The Drumoig ace birdied his 16th and managed two great closing par saves to sit two shots off the lead held by American John Catlin at three under.
Syme has been in contention twice over the last fortnight only to come up short in the Celtic Classic and the Wales Open.
Those experiences can help him get over the line in Spain this weekend.
Syme said: “I’m pretty pleased. It wasn’t easy again – the wind was probably a little less than yesterday but still equally as difficult.
