For centuries Britain has been a beacon of liberty to the world. From the creation of Parliamentary democracy to the conquest of Nazi Germany, our country has a proud record of cherishing freedom.

But today that tradition is under mortal threat. A mood of ugly intolerance is sweeping the land, driven by a fanatical army of far-Left agitators filled with contempt for our heritage.

In a frenzy of puerile rage, they seek the destruction of any relic from Britain’s past that does not meet their ideological purity test.

No one voted for this self-righteous mob. They speak for no one beyond their own Marxist echo chamber. But they derive their power from their ruthless determination to exploit the widespread anger and sense of injustice over the killing of George Floyd at the hands of the US police. In the wake of nationwide protests at the weekend, led by the group Black Lives Matter, the politically motivated wrecking crew swung into action.
