Joseph Payne wrote Villages of Picardy – Valtz Brilliante about the French region on July 10, 1918.

Now the Tommy, from Hull, is to be posthumously awarded the highest honour of the National College of Music and Arts, where he studied.

The waltz had been stored in an attic until it was discovered by his great-great nephew.
