Both historic planes have two cockpits – one for the pilot and one for each lucky winner – meaning there are no social distancing restrictions.

Exhilarating

You will take off from Biggin Hill in Kent – a Battle of Britain fighter station – before experiencing a victory roll in the same skies in which The Few risked all to save Britain from Nazi invasion.

You could also be given the chance to take the controls and fly the Spitfire at the pilot’s discretion.

The flights, by flyaspitfire.com, usually cost £2,750 each.

Both Spitfires saw action in the war. Spitfire MJ772 joined No341 (Alsace) Squadron of the Free French in January 1944, flying patrols over the beaches on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
