Boris Johnson’s newly painted plane took off yesterday for the first time since its £900,000 red, white and blue makeover.

The RAF Voyager, used by the prime minister and the Royal Family, was pictured taking off from an airfield in Cambridgeshire in Britain’s national colours.

The previously grey aircraft now has a Union Jack on the tailfin and United Kingdom written in gold.

Dubbed the “Brexit plane”, it will be a key part of Mr Johnson’s trade talks at international summits.
